MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Despite a career-best 35-point outburst from
Jalen Gaston, the Auburn University at Montgomery men's basketball team dropped a back-and-forth Gulf South Conference contest to the University on Alabama in Huntsville on Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night at the AUM Athletics Complex.
Gaston dropped a career-high 35 points on 13-of-21 shooting that included a 9-for-15 clip from beyond the three-point line. Gaston played all 40 minutes and added five rebounds, four assists, and a pair of steals.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The Chargers raced out to a 9-3 lead, but AUM found an answer with a 9-2 spurt of its own on jumpers from Malachi Rhodes, Jalen Gaston, and Jalil Robinson.
- A Luke Burnett three-pointer at the 8:18 mark of the first half ballooned the UAH lead to 12, the largest of the first half.
- Gaston sparked a 12-0 run by himself with four three-pointers on successive trips down the floor to knot the score at 29-29.
- Two Gilbert Croley free throws gave AUM a 38-37 lead at the halftime intermission.
- Gaston hit another three-pointer on AUM's first possession of the second half to open up a four-point lead, 41-37, but UAH had a response.
- Another Burnett three-pointer capped a 34-17 run by the visitors to open up a 71-58 advantage with under 7:32 to play.
- With AUM trying to mount a comeback, Gaston hit his final three-pointer of the night with 1:48 to go to make it 77-73, but the Chargers answered with a three-point play by Tommy Murr to help seal the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Gaston scored a career-high 35 points and played all 40 minutes for the seventh time as a Warhawk.
- Robinson scored 11 points to make it five straight games in double-figures to begin his AUM career.
- The Warhawks totaled a season-high 16 assists.
- The Chargers out-rebounded AUM on the offensive glass 11-7 and out-scored the Warhawks 14-6 on second-chance points.
- Both teams combined to go 27-for-69 from three-point land.
