Women's Basketball Races Past Chargers On Faculty Staff Appreciation Night

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Danielle Luckey posted her third double-double of the season for the Auburn University at Montgomery women's basketball team in a 72-53 victory against The University of Alabama in Huntsville on Monday night in front of a strong crowd inside the AUM Athletics Complex on Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night. 

Luckey secured 17 rebounds and scored 14 points in the victory. Her 17 rebounds are the most by any Warhawk since Victoria Morales had 18 twice in the 2019-20 season.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Allasha Dudley got the game started with a layup and it was followed by a three-pointer to see the Warhawks hold onto a 5-0 lead two minutes into the game. 
  • AUM and UAH traded baskets and the Tian Addison made back-to-back shots from beyond the arc that gave AUM some separation with the score 17-8 with 2:30 remaining in the first quarter. 
  • AUM outscored the Chargers 20-1 in the second quarter shooting 70% from the field and took a 37-14 lead into the intermission. 
  • The scoring continued in the third quarter for Auburn Montgomery with Kamya Hollingshed knocking down a three-pointer off an assist from Grace O'Gara
  • AUM held onto a lead greater than 17 points for the remainder of the third frame.
  • The Warhawks did not let up and earned the 72-53 victory. 
NOTABLES
  • The Warhawks had four players score double-digits with Addison and Jamya Tyus leading the way with 16. Luckey scored 14 and Dudley scored 10. 
  • Hollingshed and O'Gara chipped in with eight points each. 
  • Luckey swatted five shots for the second consecutive game in a row. 
  • AUM held the lead for the entire game.

"Great team win for us at home tonight!" head coach Jon Plefka said. "We are very thankful for the support from the crowd and especially the faculty and staff that were recognized prior to the game! We will enjoy this win tonight and then it is back to work tomorrow as we prepare for a challenging road opportunity at UWA."
