Men's Tennis Takes Care of Business With Doubleheader Sweep

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery men's tennis team picked up two victories over Middle Georgia State University and Tuskegee University Friday afternoon by final scores of 5-2 and 7-0 at the AUM Tennis Complex.

FIRST SERVE – SINGLES
  • Guariente took down MGSU's Adria Pratdepadua 6-0, 6-4 to earn a second point for AUM. 
  • Bonaiuti dropped court two 7-6, 6-4 for the Knights to earn a point. 
  • Bedwan dominated court three 6-2, 6-1 to claim a point against Mariano Jalif. 
  • Adrian Contreras took down Icham Tidjine at court four to take a point. 
  • Titouan Le Maout won court five over Gianfranco Germinara 6-4, 6-3 to give AUM the fifth point of the match. 
  • Marquez was defeated at court six 6-4, 6-1. 
SECOND MATCH
Final Score: AUM 7, Tuskegee 0 
 
FIRST SERVE – DOUBLES 
  • AUM continued to dominate at doubles with Bedwan and Bonaiuti winning 6-3 at court one. 
  • Jacq and Renard shutout Torain Alleyne and Symon Brown 6-0. 
  • Marquez and Contreras won court three 6-1 against David Larkin and Nicholas Short.
FIRST SERVE – SINGLES
  • Guariente won 6-2, 6-1 at the first court.
  • Contreras took down Teryon Newbold 6-0, 6-1 at court two. 
  • Le Maout battled Torain Alleyne and got the victory 6-2, 6-2. 
  • Jacq won at court four 6-0, 6-0 against Symon Brown. 
  • Renard won 6-1, 6-1 against Ty'lon Miller 6-1, 6-1. 
  • Marquez 6-1, 6-1 against Michael Guinoo for AUM to win the match 7-0.  
WORDS FROM THE WARHAWKS

"It was a good day to start our season at home," head tennis coach Yair Banuelos said. "We played two solid opponents today. In the first match we started off fast and that set the tone for singles. We won lots of first sets and that gave us confidence for the rest of the match. We kept the momentum in the second match and took care of business."

AUM travels to Spring Hill College on Wednesday, February 8. The first serve is scheduled for noon in Mobile, Alabama.
