MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Joseph Lanzi and Travis Anderson posted 18 points apiece, five players scored in double figures, and the Auburn University at Montgomery men's basketball team survived a late swell by Union (Tenn.) University to secure an 86-80 victory in front of a packed house at the AUM Athletics Complex.
Lanzi scored 18 points, which included a 4-for-5 mark from three-point territory, added six rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Anderson tallied 18 points, dished out four assists, and added three steals. Sam Youngblood (14 points), James Graham (12 points), and Roderick Smith (10 points) also added double-digit points for AUM.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Union scored the first five points of the game, and the two teams battled within a couple of possessions for much of the first half.
- Leading 20-19 with 12:03 to play in the first half, four baskets by Roderick Smith off the bench as part of a 13-3 run ran the AUM lead to 33-22 with five minutes to go in the half.
- A 13-6 run of their own pulled the Bulldogs within four, 39-35, at the halftime intermission.
- The Warhawks, who shot 5-of-9 from three in the first half, got five points out of the locker room from Anderson and a three-point play from Deven Tucker to open up a 51-37 lead with 15:41 left in the game.
- After Union cut the lead back down to nine, a pair of threes by Lanzi and a triple from Youngblood helped the Warhawks push out to their largest lead of the game at 71-55.
- The Bulldogs did not roll over, however, as a big run capped by back-to-back three-pointers from Ivan Prug made it a three-point contest with 43 seconds to play.
- 20 seconds later, Jalen Gaston registered a layup on a long inbound pass to push the lead back to four.
- The Bulldogs outscored the Warhawks 25-15 in the final seven minutes of the game, but AUM sank late free throws to clinch the win.
NOTABLES
- AUM shot 57 percent (31-for-54) for the game and 56 percent (10-for-18) from three-point range.
- The Warhawks went 5-for-6 from the foul line in the final 18 seconds of the game.
- Smith made it back-to-back double-doubles, as he put up 10 points and 10 rebounds. He posted 32 points and 12 rebounds last time out against Lee.
- AUM held the edge in rebounding (33-31), paint points (28-26), and fast break points (19-13).
- Graham filled out the stat sheet with 12 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
