MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery baseball team used an 11-run outburst to secure an 11-3 victory against Delta State University in game one of the doubleheader before falling 9-4 in game two to split the twin bill at Q.V. Lowe Field.
Cooper Doughman and
Clayton Phillips each clubbed home runs in game one to help lead the Warhawks to victory.

GM 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- A five-run fourth inning pushed the Warhawks to a lead that they did not relinquish in the front half of Friday's doubleheader.
- A Doughman sacrifice fly gave AUM the 1-0 lead, and Zach Dew added an RBI single to make it 2-0.
- Clayton Phillips then smacked his second home run of the season to plate Dew and double the lead.
- Cole McWhorter scored on a wild pitch to open up a 5-0 lead after four the Warhawks.
- A Delta State throwing error scored two and another Dew RBI single made it 8-0 AUM.
- Cooper Doughman put an exclamation point on game one with a three-run homer to deep left in the sixth inning.
GM 1 ON THE MOUND
- Andrew Cronan (2-3) picked up the win, as he allowed three earned runs with one strikeout in 6.1 strong innings.
- Lucas Bagget finished out the AUM mound with 2.2 scoreless innings. Baggett allowed three hits but struck out a pair.
GM 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Delta State struck first in game two, as Carson Clowers added a 2-RBI single in the second.
- AUM immediately responded with a Zach Dew RBI single to cut the lead in half after two innings.
- A three-run homer by AUM in the third inning helped DSU build a 7-1 lead.
- A wild pitch and a foul out to first helped AUM add two more and make it 7-3, but DSU hit solo home runs in the fifth and the seventh to take a 9-4 win.
GM 2 ON THE MOUND
- Grant Hickman (2-3) suffered the loss. He worked four frames but did add four strikeouts to his season total.
- Levi Clark allowed a run in 1.1 innings of relief, Tommy Vickers retired a pair of left-handed hitters in 0.2 innings, and Daniel Swatek allowed a run on one hit in one relief frame.
NOTABLES
- Phillips added his second long ball of the season while Doughman hit his third homer of the year.
- Doughman went 4-for-8 on the day at the plate with four RBIs and three runs scored.
- Zach Dew, between both games of the doubleheader, had three RBI singles. Dew went 5-for-8 with three RBIs and three runs scored.
- Cronan worked a season-high 6.1 innings for the Warhawks on the mound in game one.
