Clark, Freeman Help Diamond Warhawks Post Midweek Win Over Tuskegee

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Kasey Clark went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and finished a double shy of the cycle, Nick Freeman was a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBIs and three runs scored, and the Auburn University at Montgomery baseball team took down Tuskegee 15-4 on Wednesday night at Q.V. Lowe Field.

Clayton Phillips added a 2-for-2 night offensively with an RBI double and an RBI single for the Warhawks.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Clark pegged a two-run home run to right in the first to make it 2-0 AUM.
  • The Warhawks plated runs in the second inning thanks to an RBI single, an RBI double, an RBI triple, and an error.
  • A five-spot in the third frame opened up an 11-0 lead for AUM.
  • The orange and black added a Nick Freeman two-RBI single and a Micah Christian run-scoring double in the fourth, and a Clayton Ashberry sacrifice fly in the fifth to help cement the win.
ON THE MOUND 
  • Clay Weatherly (2-2) earned the win with a scheduled two innings of work. He allowed just two base runners and struck out one batter.
  • Levi Clark worked a shut-out third inning with one strikeout.
  • Lucas Baggett allowed one unearned run in one inning.
  • Jackson Gantt allowed an infield hit and had one strikeout in a scoreless relief inning. 
  • MJ Galloway and Will Collins tossed the sixth and the seventh innings, respectively, to finish off the game for the Warhawks.
NOTABLES
  • Clark, Freeman, and Phillips combined to go 9-for-10 with two doubles, a triple, and a two-run homer. 
  • Clayton Ashberry, Micah Christian, and Cooper Doughman all drove in a run for AUM.
  • Nine different players scored at least one run for the Warhawks. 
  • AUM scored double-digit runs for the 10th time this season and scored at least 15 runs for the fourth time this season.

The Warhawks travel to Clinton, Miss. to take on Mississippi College in a Gulf South Conference series that opens up on Friday, March 31 at 6 p.m. at Frierson Field.
