Baseball Bounces Back Into Win Column With 13-3 Win Over Albany State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery baseball team pounded out 15 hits and scored double-digit runs for the 13th time this season en route to a 13-3 win over NCAA South Region foe Albany State University on Wednesday night at Q.V. Lowe Field.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • A six-spot in the last of the first staked AUM to an early lead. Brody Syer tallied a bases-loaded walk, Zach Dew singled home a run, Jarren Wright walked with the bases full, Jake Spivey singled in a run, and a Jackson Ceman base hit plated a pair for the Warhawks. 
  • Spivey grounded out to shortstop to plate Syer, and Ceman added a 2-RBI double to shallow centerfield top open up a 9-0 advantage.
  • An error and an RBI groundout scored two runs for the Golden Rams in the third inning. 
  • Clayton Phillips was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to plate another AUM run, and Cooper Doughman drew a bases-loaded walk as AUM led 11-2 after four. 
  • RBI singles from Dew and Wright ended the game in the last of the eighth inning for the Warhawks.
ON THE MOUND 
  • Daniel Swatek worked four innings to get the win (1-0). Swatek allowed a pair of unearned runs on four hits.
  • Brett Pitts allowed a run on two hits in 2.0 innings of relief work.
  • Will Collins spun two scoreless relief innings. He allowed two hits and walked one with a strikeout.
NOTABLES
  • Swatek notched his first win of the season for the Warhawks.
  • Ceman registered his first four-RBI game and the seventh by an AUM player this season.
  • AUM scored double-digit runs for the 13th time in the campaign.
  • Seven players recorded a multi-hit game on the night and Jarren Wright led the way with three hits. Nine different players also scored at least one run.
UP NEXT

The Warhawks visit Pensacola, Fla. to take on the University of West Florida. The two teams play a doubleheader on Friday, April 14th at 1 p.m., with a single game to follow on Saturday, April 15th at noon.
