MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball team kicked off the 2023 Warhawk Invitational on Thursday night against Miles College and earned a 3-0 victory inside the AUM Athletics Complex in a nonconference matchup.

HIGHLIGHTS

• AUM had a solid first set and jumped out to a 10-4 lead over the Golden Bears. With the six-point lead, the Warhawks rallied for a 5-0 run to take complete control of set one, and eventually earned the 25-10 set victory.
• The Warhawks jumped out of the gate with a 5-0 run in set two and after Miles scored a pair of points, AUM responded with a 6-0 run to a 11-2 lead. Miles scored one point and AUM rallied with a 5-0 run and won 25-9 in the second set. 
• The third set was much closer than the first as Miles had a 6-4 lead, and AUM utilized a 11-4 run and AUM had a 15-8 lead. The Golden Bears tried to get back in the set, but AUM secured the 25-20 third set victory and clinched the match. 

STATS OF THE MATCH

• Giulia Santuari had a dominant night with 12 kills on 16 total attacks. She also chipped in three digs and a block assist. 
• Maya Thompson had 11 kills and four block assists. 
• Amber Bretwisch dished out 18 assists and had seven digs. 
• AUM's digs were distributed evenly as six players had five or more digs and the team gathered 50 total. 
• Campbell Gash had 13 assists and three service aces on the night.

The Warhawks are back in action on Friday, September 15 against Albany State University at 5:30 p.m. in the AUM Athletics Complex.
