NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball team split day two of the Newberry College Volleyball Invitational at the Eleazer Arena with a 0-3 defeat against Lander University and responded with a dominating 3-0 victory over Belmont Abbey College.

HIGHLIGHTS
- AUM and Lander battled in the first set with neither team stretching the lead out. Lander was able to gain a 18-14 lead in the set, but AUM came back strong and took a 22-20 lead. The Bearcats tied it all at 24-24 and finished it off with back-to-back points and took a 1-0 lead in the match.
- The second set saw the Warhawks owning leads multiple times including a 12-6 lead and a 22-15 lead, but Lander fought back into it and ended up taking a 2-0 lead in the match with the 28-26 set victory.
- In set three, the Warhawks and Bearcats went back-and-forth. Lander was able to create seperation late in the set with a 24-20 lead and AUM gained two more points off a kill by Ruth Sconocchini and a attack error on Lander. LU finished it off and took the match 3-0.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The first set was a set of runs as AUM could not stretch the lead past five points, until it was 19-16 and the Warhawks closed the set on a 6-0 run to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
- Belmont Abbey owned a 5-3 lead in the early stages of the second set. AUM responded with a 11-3 run to make it 18-10. The Crusaders battled to get back in the set at 21-17. AUM found a way to close the set and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
- The third set saw AUM hold a 13-10 lead. Auburn Montgomery rallied and only allowed three more points to take a 25-13 victory in the third set and clinch the match 3-0.
STATS OF THE MATCH
- Bretwisch and Campbell Gash tallied 14 assists each.
- Sconocchini recorded nine points with eight kills and two block assists.
- Torquetti posted six block assists and four kills.
- Fitzgerald led the Warhawks in digs with 18.
