LAKELAND, FLA. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery women's tennis teams competed in the 2023 Intercollegiate Tennis Association South Region Championship this past weekend in Lakeland, Florida hosted by Florida Southern College.

Women's Open Singles
The Warhawks had great individual success during the three-day tournament and it was highlighted by
Estefania Garcia advancing to the round of 16 in the women's open singles main bracket. She picked up a pair of wins along the way against Romina Kroemer (6-0, 6-1) and Maria Caride (6-4,6-1) from Delta State University.
Ana Villalvazo reached the women's open singles consolation championship match. She defeated Rollins College's Polina Vlasova, Olivia Lindestaf, Kristina Miletic, and Ronja Scheuermann from FSC to reach the finals. Villalvazo was eliminated by Embry Riddle's Maja Issler.
Regina Urbiola had a strong weekend and made it to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket. Urbiola defeated Julia Triska (6-0, 6-3) from Eckerd College and Marie Guillaume (6-4, 2-6, 10-5) from DSU.
Women's Open Doubles
The doubles team of Urbiola and Garcia had a strong showing in the doubles main bracket and advanced to the quarterfinals. They picked up a win over Spring Hill College's Claire Bosman and Brooke Powers (8-3) and RC's Jiayi Liu and Kaitlynn Groves (8-3) in the round of 16.

The Warhawks fall schedule continues October 6-8 at the Mercer Gridiron Classic before closing the fall schedule out in Montgomery, Alabama in the Gulf South Conference Individual Tournament on November 3-5.
