LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball team got back on track on Tuesday night inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium against the University of West Alabama with a 3-0 sweep to grasp their first Gulf South Conference victory of the season.

HIGHLIGHTS
- AUM began the first set red hot as they jumped out to a 7-1 lead, led by two kills from Maya Thompson that forced a Tiger timeout. West Alabama came out of the timeout and trimmed the AUM lead to 9-6, before forcing AUM to take their first timeout of the set. The Warhawks held the lead for the entire first set and grew the lead to 21-14 after Keren Santana delivered a kill off the assist from Amber Bretwisch. AUM clinched the opening set 25-15 after Alessia Cappai and Myllena Torquetti blocked an attack from the Tigers.
- West Alabama gained an early 6-3 lead in the second set, but AUM retook the lead with a 5-0 rally after a kill by Torquetti. The two teams found themselves tied at 13 a piece after trading points, which lead to an AUM timeout. AUM was able to break a tie with a 6-2 rally and control a 20-16 lead and eventually captured the second set 25-19 and took a 2-0 lead in the match.
- The home team jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in set three that forced the Warhawks to utilize a timeout. Thompson picked up a pair of kills and the Warhawks found themselves back in the set with it tied at five a piece. After swapping leads, UWA held a 11-10 lead and the Warhawks took over. Torquetti served a seven point rally that gave AUM the momentum to win the set 25-14 and the match 3-0.
STATS OF THE MATCH
- Thompson lead AUM in kills with 10. Her 10 kills are the second-most she has had since posting 11 against Miles College on September 14. Thompson scored 10.5 points.
- Bretwisch dished out 21 assists, which was a season-high for her. Bretwisch now 1,490 assists at AUM, which now ranks second in school history as she passes Carly Smart who played 2017-18.
- Savannah Sebek posted 12 assists on the night.
- Cappai dug 12 balls and led both teams in digs. Kaleigh Fitzgerald chipped in with 11 digs.
- Ruth Sconocchini had a solid night with eight kills and scored eight points.
- Santana scored 10 points and had seven kills along with three service aces.
- AUM's 10 service aces is third-most this season. Cappai and Santana each had three.

The Warhawks return to the AUM Athletics Complex on Friday, September 29 to take on Christian Brothers University at 6 p.m. in a GSC match.
