Three-Point Barrage Dooms Men's Basketball Against Montevallo

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Jack Henderson knocked down seven three-pointers, the University of Montevallo connected on 14 three-pointers on the night, and the Auburn University at Montgomery men's basketball team fell 86-78 at the hands of the Falcons on Saturday night at the AUM Athletics Complex.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • After opening up with a three-point lead in the opening three minutes, Montevallo responded with a 29-10 stretch over the next seven minutes to lead 32-16.
  • Jalil Robinson responded with eight points and two three-pointers as part of a 13-5 spurt as AUM trimmed the lead to six. 
  • Henderson added two of his seven first-half three-pointers in the closing stretch of the first half as the Falcons led 43-31 at the break.
  • Trailing by 15 out of the locker room, AUM got a 16-2 run, thanks to a three-pointer by Jalen Gaston and three three-pointers from Travis Anderson, to pull within one at 50-49.
  • Cam Glover rattled off the next nine Montevallo points as the Falcons responded by immediately pushing the lead back to three possessions. 
  • A pair of Malachi Rhodes free throws pulled AUM as close as it was able to get in the second half at 81-75, but the Falcons closed out the contest.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • AUM turned in its fifth game of the season with more than 40 rebounds, as the Warhawks out-rebounded the Falcons 41-31.
  • Both teams combined to hit 25 three-pointers on the night.
  • Rhodes totaled his third double-double of the season and ripped down a season-high 14 rebounds.
  • The Warhawks bench posted 40 points on the night, while Montevallo's bench did not score a point.
  • AUM had 17 offensive rebounds and 26 second-chance points on the evening. 
  • Gaston scored in double figures for the seventh straight game.
