CLINTON, Miss. – The AUM women's cross country team registered a 10th-place finish at the Gulf South Conference Championships at Choctaw Trails on Saturday.
The Warhawks scored 277 points in the race with an average 6k time of 25:43 among the five scoring runners. This was the first year the GSC ran this distance at the championship meet.
Elizabeth Blitch was the fastest finisher for the Warhawks, completing the 6k course in 25:81.1.
Lucy Anthony and
Abagail Little went back-to-back finishing in 25:41.1 and 25:45.2, respectively.
Franzi Dempwolf crossed the line in 25:53.8, followed next in the scoring order by
Mckenzie David in 26:00.5
13th-ranked Lee won its eighth-consecutive GSC title with a perfect score of 15 points - the first in league history. Alabama Huntsville was second with 72 points.
AUM will return to the course with the NCAA South Region Championship in Huntsville, Alabama. The meet will be Saturday, Nov. 9 at John Hunt Park.
