MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The AUM women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Union at the AUM Athletics Complex on Saturday.
AUM (8-16, 5-10 Gulf South) saw its 3-game winning streak come to an end. The Warhawks hit .247 but couldn't overcome a poor start in the first set, falling 25-15, 28-26, 25-23.
Kendall McCain,
Maya Thompson and
Elise Fulgham all hit over .300 to lead the AUM offense. McCain had 13 kills for her sixth match in double figures, while Thompson had 10 and Fulgham had five on nine attempts off the bench.
Union (8-17, 6-10) got a season-high 17 kills on .667 hitting from Vanja Stefanovic.
Set 1
Union scored the first seven points in the contest to grab the momentum. AUM battled back to within 14-11 before the Lady Bulldogs benefitted from three attack errors on their way to a 25-15 win. Stefanovic had seven kills as Union hit .481 with just two miscues in the frame.
Set 2
AUM trailed for much of the first half of the set before taking a 14-13 lead. The Warhawks extended the margin to 23-20 before the Lady Bulldogs tied it at 23. From there AUM fought off three set points but were unable to get the win, dropping the period 28-26. McCain kept AUM hot, producing seven winners, including four-consecutive during the first run of the set.
Set 3
The third set went back and forth with Union leading for the majority of the contest before AUM tied it at 22 on a hitting error by Stefanovic – her only one of the contest. The Bulldogs went back to their leader who registered the kill for a lead. After a McCain winner tie it back at 23, the Lady Bulldogs scored the final two points for the sweep.

AUM will travel to West Florida (20-5, 15-0) for a midweek contest on Wednesday night. First serve at the UWF Field House is at 6 p.m.
