MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The AUM women's volleyball team suffered two losses on the first day of the Chowan Invitational at the Hawks Athletic Center on Friday.
AUM (2-3) fell to Lander 3-0 (16-25, 12-25, 21-25) and Virginia Union 3-1 (25-27, 23-25, 25-18, 24-26).
The Warhawks were unable to get much offense against the Bearcats, ending the match with a -.009 attack pct.
Kendall McCain and
Maya Thompson each had seven kills to lead the team.
In the second match of the day, AUM hit .226 compared to .244 for VUU. Thompson finished with a season-high 15 winners on .462 attack pct.
Greta Corrente's career-high seven service aces are tied for the second-most in a match in AUM history. She also had 12 digs. Savannah Sebeck handed out 20 assists to go along with her match-high 14 digs.
AUM will return to action on Saturday morning when it faces Chowan at 9 a.m. ET.
