MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The AUM women's volleyball team held Chowan to a 0.58 hitting pct. en route to a 3-0 win to close put play at the Chowan Invitational on Saturday.
AUM (3-3) finished the 2-day event with a 1-2 record and will return to Montgomery next weekend for the Warhawk Invitational. It will be the first home matches for the Orange and Black as they welcome Arkansas Tech, Palm Beach Atlantic and Shorter to the AUM Athletics Complex.
On Saturday, the Warhawks dispatched of the Hawks with a 25-23, 25-21, 25-21 victory.Â
Savannah Sebek and
Kendall McCain had seven kills each to lead the team.
Campbell Gash had 19 assists and
Carly Cooper dug a season-high 18 attacks.
The teams went back and forth in the opening set as the Warhawks grabbed a 10-4 lead before the Hawks went ahead 13-12. From there it went back and forth with four ties before AUM went up 1-0 by virtue of winning three of the final four points. In the second set, AUM overcame an 18-14 deficit with a 7-0 run, including scoring eight of the final nine points. They again found themselves trailing 21-19 in the third set before closing the match on a 6-0 run.Â
