AUM Splits Road Trip With Loss To No. 6 UAH

Paul Lanzi made five 3-pointers on Sunday

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The AUM men's basketball team finished its road weekend with a split against West Alabama and No. 6 Alabama Huntsville. The Warhawks defeated the Tigers, 82-77, on Thursday before falling to the Chargers, 85-67, on Sunday at Spragins Hall.

On Sunday, AUM (7-7, 4-5 Gulf South) shot 35 percent and made seven 3-pointers. Paul Lanzi continued his hot shooting from outside, making 5-of-6 on his way to a team-high 17 points. Malachi Rhodes registered his fourth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The Warhawks had 12 offensive rebounds that led to 15 second-chance points.

UAH (15-1, 10-0) won its 15th-consecutive game while shooting 47 percent with 46 points in the paint. The Chargers built a 38-20 lead in the first half with 23 coming on layups or jumpers in the lane.

In the second half, AUM battled to within five at 54-49 with 12:17 to play but was unable to slow down UAH enough to overtake the home team.

The Chargers were led by Blake Campbell's 24 points. Leading scorer Tommy Murr was limited to 12 points – seven below his average.

AUM returns home this week for games against West Florida (4-11, 3-6) and Valdosta State (13-2, 8-1). Thursday's contest with the Argonauts will tip off at 7:30 p.m. at the AUM Athletics Complex.
