MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The AUM Men's basketball team had three players come off the bench to score double digits and lead the team to 84 points in a 9-point loss to De;ta State in front of a large crowd on Greek Night at the AUM Athletic Complex Thursday.
Max Ogbalet-Ndiaye scored a career-high 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting with an assist and a steal in 17 minutes.
Jamir Williams went for double-figures for the fourth time in the last five contests with 14 points, while
Chappelle Whitney ended the night with 10 points.
AUM (8-11, 5-9 Gulf South) made five 3-pointers in the second half while trying to chip into the Statesmen lead. The Warhawks shot 52 percent overall and were 21-of-32 at the free throw line.
Delta State (10-10, 6-8) was led by the big three of Chris Terrell, Kolby Horace and Keithean Brooks. The trio each scored at least 21 points, with Terrell reaching a game-high 27. The Statesmen were 11-of-25 from outside.
DSU used an 11-0 run to break an early 7-7 tie before extending the lead to 25-11 midway through the first half. AUM battled back to make it a 46-39 contest at the break. After falling behind 63-45, the Warhawks rode an energetic bench to scrape and claw back to within 86-79 with 2:00 left. But the Statesmen held on to win, 93-84.
AUM will play Mississippi College on Saturday at 4 p.m. on Homecoming.
