MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The AUM men's basketball played a dominant second half on its way to an 86-74 Homecoming victory over Mississippi College at the AUM Athletics Complex on Saturday.
Trent Coleman had a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds, while
Paul Lanzi led the team with 20 points to help AUM (9-11, 6-9 Gulf South) snap a 4-game losing streak.
Malachi Rhodes had 18 points and
Chappelle Whitney made 8-of-10 on his way to 18 points. Both players had six rebounds.
The Warhawks shot 48 percent in the game, but used a 55-percent effort with 5-of-10 from outside in the second half for a 53-point outburst.
MC (7-16, 3-12) shot 35 percent and other than leading scorer Rashad Bolden's game-high 37 points, the Choctaws didn't have anyone who could match the Warhawks.
AUM scored the first 10 points after the break to take command with a 43-34 lead. MC battled to within one possessions a couple of times but a 14-1 run that saw Lanzi score nine by himself swung the momentum back to the Warhawks for the final 9:33.
AUM will return to play at Christian Brothers on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m.
