MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks volleyball team (3-24, GSC: 2-17) fell in a three-set match to the University of Montevallo Falcons (13-16, GSC: 10-9), Thursday evening from the AUM Athletics Complex.
Posting her ninth double-double of the season, Kendall McCain led the Warhawks with a match-high 15 kills with a .303 attack percentage and added 12 digs plus a season-high five service aces.
Taylor Lewis recorded 12 digs, while Addi Vinson had 16 assists.
The Falcons saw Danielle Green lead on offense with 11 kills on a .450 swing percentage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
AUM used a Montevallo attack error and a Kendall McCain kill to even the set early at nine points apiece.
Later, trailing 16-12, the Warhawks used a four-point rally to even the score at 16. After McCain and Anyaliz Rodriguez went back-to-back on the front row, McCain dished out a service ace to help even the score.
The Warhawks fought to keep up with the Falcons, but it was Montevallo who earned the 25-23 win to start the match.
Set 2
The Falcons used a 6-2 run on two kills from Danielle Greene to swell the lead to 12-7 early in set two.
AUM was able to cut the deficit to 17-16 on a Montevallo service error, but an 8-4 run by the Falcons helped them take set two, 25-20.
Set 3
Despite a McCain kill to start the third set rally, Montevallo strung together seven straight points to lead 9-4 after eight of the first nine points by the Falcons were from the front row.
The Warhawks did counter with a 9-3 run of their own to make it a 19-17 deficit, but the Falcons, who hit .400 the final frame, finished on a 6-2 run to earn the sweep.

The Warhawks wrap up the regular season with Senior Day on Saturday against the University of Alabama in Huntsville. First serve is scheduled for noon from the AUM Athletics Complex.
