MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks men's basketball team (2-7, GSC: 0-3) fell to the Mississippi College Choctaws (6-3, GSC: 3-0) 82-78 on Thursday night from the AUM Athletics Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
The Choctaws took control early, winning the race to 10 points at 10-4. The Warhawks held strong as they scored eight unanswered points, led by a triple from Chappelle Whitney, to earn a 12-10 advantage.

After tied scores at 17-17 and 20-20, AUM pulled ahead 27-22 behind four points from Marius Canery and a big-time deep ball from Jacob St. Clair.

Mississippi College edged back to tie the score up once again, this time at 30 points apiece. A fastbreak layup from MC's Avaughn Johnson with less than 30 second left gave the opponents the two point lead heading into the halftime break.

Second Half
The back-and-forth action continued in the second half, bringing the game to a 38-38 tie just before the 16-minute mark. Not long after, Jamarious Martin and Whitney knocked down consecutive threes to keep AUM in front 44-40.

Stuck at a 52-52 tie, Mississippi College scored 13 of the next 18 points to earn a 65-57 advantage with 6:26 left in regulation. Martin and Canery were able to knock down some shots, but the visitors continued to extend their lead to 71-61.

The Warhawks were able to cut their deficit to just two points with 30 seconds left to play, and then again with seven seconds remaining on the scoreboard, but ultimately, the Choctaws walked away with an 82-78 victory.
