AUM Suffer Tough Road Loss to Union

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks women's basketball team (0-11, GSC: 0-5) fell to the Union Bulldogs (8-4, GSC: 3-1) with a final score of 109-50 on Thursday evening in Memphis, Tenn.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
A slow start to the game allowed Samya Brooks to score first with her jumper at 7:47. After a tie at 4-4, Union began to push ahead. They scored the next 13 points to take a 17-4 advantage before Tamora Brown's basket broke the streak.
 
Andie Flatgard made a layup to bring AUM to eight points, but the Bulldogs would go on to lead 23-8 after the end of the first quarter.
 
Second Quarter
Shelby McAllister scored her first points of the evening early in the second quarter, before two scoreless minutes brought us to the media timeout.
 
Union extended their advantage to 34-14, however, the Warhawks were able to find some momentum with six unanswered points from Brooks and Brown to cut the deficit to 34-20.
 
Both teams continued to fight, but the home team was able to secure a 48-28 lead at the end of the first half.
 
Third Quarter
AUM was able to put up 12 in the third quarter behind buckets from Nevaeh Small, Brooks, Brown, and McAllister. However, the Bulldogs continued to push ahead as they took a 76-40 cushion heading into the fourth quarter.
 
Fourth Quarter
The final 10 minutes saw some solid plays from the Warhawks, including a three-point dagger from Gabby Litvak. In the end, Union would be the ones to take the 109-50 victory on their home court.
 
NOTABLES
  • Tamora Brown led AUM with 12 points and six rebounds.
  • The Warhawks scored 22 points in the paint and 15 off the bench.
  • Union had five players score 10 or more points.
 
UP NEXT
The Warhawks will remain in Memphis, Tenn. for a road test against Christian Brothers on Saturday, Dec. 20 beginning at 1 p.m.
