VALDOSTA, Ga. - The AUM men's basketball team fell to ninth-ranked Valdosta State, 114-94, at The Complex on Thursday.
AUM is now 9-17 overall and 6-15 in Gulf South Conference play. The Warhawks will conclude their season at West Florida () on Saturday in Pensacola.
Chappelle Whitney led all players with 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting, including three 3-pointers. Max Ndaiye had 17 points and
Trent Coleman finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double.
Malachi Rhodes had nine points, 11 rebounds and a career-high seven assists.
Off the bench,
Darrian Joseph had a career-high 15 points and
Talib Ferrette and
Jadyn McHugh added seven each.
The Warhawks shot 48 percent from the floor. AUM did outscore VSU 61-52 in the second half by shooting 59 percent with six of their eight 3-pointers.
VSU shot 54 percent and scored 38 points off 23 AUM turnovers while improving to 23-4 overall and 18-3 in league action.
The Blazers seized the game's momentum midway through the first half when they forced a number of backcourt turnovers as the catalyst for a 20-5 run in a 4:05 stretch that extended it's lead to 43-25.
Six players scored in double figures for the Blazers.
