MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The AUM baseball team allowed four runs in the first two innings and fell to Georgia Southwestern, 6-2, at QV Lowe Field on Wednesday.
AUM (0-4) finished with six hits but left 10 runners on base, including three in scoring position. The top three batters in the lineup reached base a combined six times, including lead off man
Tyrese Rooks, who was 1-for-3 with two walks, two runs and a stolen base.
Cole Strachan went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI.
The Warhawks used six pitchers and struck out four as a staff. Ryan Slatan (0-1) took the loss after allowing four runs in two innings.
Heath Henley worked three innings and allowed just one run on two hits.
GSW (4-0) collected 10 hits, including home runs from Cory Lee and David Hernandez. The Canes were paced by Lee, who was 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI from his lead off spot. Braeden Cochran (1-0) earned the win for the Hurricanes, allowing two runs on five hits with four strikeouts over five innings. Carsen Plumadore earned the save after entering the game with the bases loaded and no outs in the ninth. He was able to induce a fly out, get a strikeout and a foul out to secure the game.
AUM will return to action this weekend when it travels to Central, South Carolina, where the Warhawks will face host Southern Wesleyan on Friday afternoon, and then Limestone and SWU in a pair of games on Saturday.
