JACKSON, Tenn. - The AUM men's basketball team fell to a hot shooting Union squad, 102-85, at Fred DeLay Gymnasium on Saturday.
AUM (9-13, 6-11 Gulf South) got 25 points from
Paul Lanzi, who made four 3-pointers while shooting 9-of-16 overall. It was his tenth double figure game and fifth with at least 20 points.
Arion Lewis finished with 18 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Jamarious Martin had 11 points to become the third Warhawks in double figures.
AUM shot 46 percent and made nine 3-pointers but the margin Union built in the first half was just too much to overcome.
Union (12-10, 8-8) hit 61 percent in the first half, including 13 3-pointers to build a 60-38 lead at the intermission. At one point, the home team made 7-of-8 during a 3:05 stretch that turned a 9-point game into a 20-point difference. The Bulldogs shot 54.4 percent overall, their best game since January of 2023.
Judson Bjornstad had 26 points to lead Union. He made six triples as four of the starters all had at least three makes from outside.
AUM will continue its road swing, traveling to Montevallo (15-8, 11-6) on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off at Central State Bank Arena is at 6 p.m.
