MOBILE, Ala. - The AUM baseball team saw its 3-game winning streak come to an end in a pair of 7-inning contests at Spring Hill on Wednesday. The Badgers won the first game, 3-2, before rallying for a 6-4 win in the nightcap at Historic Sims-Galle Field.
AUM is now 7-12 this season.
Game One - SHC 3, AUM 2
SHC struck first in the second inning when Bryce Anderson had an RBI double and Parker Serio followed with a 2-run home run for a 3-0 advantage.
Tyrese Rooks made it a 3-1 game with an RBI single in the sixth before the Orange and Black loaded the bases in the seventh.
Hayden Grier was hit by a pitch to score
Riley Orr but the Warhawks were unable to put the ball in play and fell 3-2.
Griffin Stewart (0-1) pitched five innings and struck out four while allowing all three runs.
Game Two - SHC 6, AUM 4
AUM led the first 5-plus innings before the Badgers scored four in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win.
Rooks,
Brendan York and
Tucker Burns all had two hits each to lead the AUM offense to nine hits. Rooks' performance stretched his current hitting streak to 18 games.
Orr drove in two to get the scoring started as his first inning groundout and third-inning sacrifice fly gave the Warhawks a 2-0 lead.
RH Frankland had a bases loaded walk to put AUM ahead 3-0.
Jackson Bell put the Badgers on the board with a 2-run single in the fourth.
AUM added to the lead in the fifth when Burns scored on a wild pitch for a 4-2 advantage.
SHC pull to within one on a Bell sac fly in the sixth before Seth Williams connected on a 3-run home run to right for the final score.
The Warhawk pitchers combined to allow just five hits but also walked six and hit a batter.
Huston Wynne (0-1) took the loss after allowing three runs in the sixth.
AUM returns to play this weekend with a road trip to Mississippi College. The teams will play a doublehader on Friday at 4 p.m., with a single game on Saturday at noon.
