CLINTON, Miss. - AUM outfielder
Tyrese Rooks hit a home run in both games of a doubleheader at Mississippi College on Friday to extend his hitting streak to 18 games.
The Warhawks fell to the Choctaws, 10-9 and 13-6, at Frierson Field.
AUM (7-14, 4-7 Gulf South) had solid offensive numbers, finishing with 20 combined hits and six extra-base hits, including three home runs.
GAME ONE - MC 10, AUM 9
The Choctaws got a walkoff hit-by-pitch to take the first game 10-9. AUM trailed just three times in the contest, once in the second, third and at the end of the game.
Zach Dew had three hits for AUM, drove in a run and scored twice to lead the offense.
Kyle Hipp had two hits and scored once.
AUM got a double from Dew and Rooks's leadoff homer in the sixth to go with nine singles in the game.
The Warhawk staff walked six and hit six Choctaw batters.
Lucas Baggett took the loss after allowing the only run in the ninth.
GAME TWO - MC 13, AUM 6
MC hit four home runs with a pair of 3-run shots to go ahead 13-0. AUM continued to battle, getting a pinch-hit home run from
Liam Gilbert in the fourth and Rooks' third of the season in the sixth.
Brendan York and
Cole Strachan joined Gilbert with two hits in the contest.
Payte Williams dropped to 0-4 after allowing nine runs in 2.1 innings.
The teams will conclude their 3-game series on Saturday at noon.
