CLINTON, Miss. – The AUM baseball team fell to Mississippi College, 6-3, in the final game of a 3-game series at Frierson Field Saturday.
Kyle Hipp had two hits while the Warhawks finished with seven overall. AUM left 11 runners on base.
AUM moves to 7-15 overall and 4-8 in Gulf South Conference action. MC is now 13-8 and 8-4.
Lucas Baggett (1-3) took the loss in relief.
AUM scored first when
Brendan York came home on a bases-loaded wild pitch in the first inning.
In the bottom half, MC also scored on a play without a hit, crossing home on a walk to Logan Shurden.
The Choctaws added to their total an inning later on a Bryce LaRocca 2-run home run for a 3-1 lead.
In the fifth, Rooks extended his hitting streak to 19 games – tying for the longest by a Warhawk in the last decade – and then stole second, went to third when the throw was wild and scored on a
Kyle Hipp single.
Zach Dew followed with a groundout that brought
Riley Orr home from third, knotting the game up at three.
The Choctaws scored the final three runs in the eighth, with the game-winning runs coming on a 2-out throwing error allowing Jordan Evans and Tyler Jacobson to score from second and third, respectively.
AUM will return to action on Tuesday, Mar. 11 against Columbus State. First pitch at QV Lowe Field is scheduled for 3 p.m.
