Warhawks Fall Twice on Final Day of Reddie-Tiger Invitational

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The AUM volleyball team wrapped up the weekend with two defeats to Arkansas Fort Smith and Ouachita Baptist on Saturday to conclude the Reddie-Tiger Invitational.

With AUM's matches being played at the Sturgis Physical Education Center on the campus of Ouachita Baptist University, the Warhawks fall to 0-7 on the season.

MATCH 1: Arkansas Fort Smith 3, AUM 0
UAFS tabulated a .301 attack percentage with 32 kills, including 13 in set two and held AUM to five spikes in the frame.

Kendall McCain led the Warhawks with seven kills.

Set 1
The Lions roared out to a 6-2 start, including starting the match on back-to-back service aces by Scarlette Young.

Fort Smith swelled the lead to 14-7 early after two kills by Crystal Smith during the run as they ran away with the opener, 25-15.

Set 2
After each team went back-and-forth in the first six points, Fort Smith went on an impressive 20-4 run to roll past AUM, 25-11.

Set 3
The Warhawks made it a 9-8 deficit after a block assist by Courtney Joseph and Anyaliz Rodriguez, but a 5-0 run by the Lions made it a 14-8 lead.

Later, up 17-14, UAFS finished the set on an 8-1 run to win the set, 25-15, and take the match in three sets.

MATCH 2: Ouachita Baptist 3, AUM 0
OBU totaled 36 kills to AUM's 34, who had 18 spikes in set two.

Anyaliz Rodriguez led the Warhawks with eight kills in the match, while Kiara Vega added 12 assists and nine digs.

Set 1
Despite AUM rallying from an early 5-1 deficit to tie the set at five points apiece thanks to a Kendall McCain kill and a Taylor Lewis ace, Ouachita Baptist went on a 13-1 run, including 11 straight points.

The Tigers made it a 23-9 lead on a Warhawk attack error en route to a 25-12 set win.

Set 2
The second set was the most competitive of the day for the Warhawks, as they had a 6-4 lead early.

Tied at 16, OBU won six of the next eight points to take a 22-18 lead thanks to a Leah Gardner kill and a Courtney Hanson ace.

Down 23-20, AUM had kills by McCain and Anyaliz Rodriguez plus a Addi Vinson ace to tie the set at 23, but an OBU kill and an AUM ball handling error gave the second frame to the Tigers, 25-23.

Set 3
A great start for both sides early as the set was knotted at seven points apiece. However, eight straight by the Tigers would be the deciding factor. Emily Adams posted back-to-back kills during the run.

Winning the set 25-16 to take the match, Ouachita Baptist totaled 11 kills with no attack errors in the frame.
