MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery women's basketball team fell to Lee University, 77–41, in Gulf South Conference action on Thursday night inside the AUM Athletics Complex.
First Quarter
The Warhawks opened the contest on a strong note, taking a 12–11 lead at the end of the first quarter. Neveah Small got AUM on the board with a jumper to start the game, followed by a three-pointer from Ameyah Gray, her 10th of the season. Small added another basket, while Samya Brooks and Gray each finished at the rim to keep AUM within striking distance. Small then gave the Warhawks the lead late in the quarter, knocking down one of two free throws to put AUM ahead, 12–11.
Second Quarter
Brooks got the scoring going in the second quarter for the Warhawks and went on to score AUM's next six points as well. She was the lone scorer for the Warhawks in the period, totaling eight points and going a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line. The Warhawks trailed Lee 36-20 at the end of the half.
Third Quarter
The second half opened with Tamora Brown at the line, where she converted one of her free throws. Brooks followed with four points for the Warhawks, including a pair from the free throw line. AUM trailed 59-25 at the end of the third quarter.
Fourth Quarter
Andie Flatgard opened the final quarter with four points for the Warhawks. Toccara Stagnaro recorded her first point of the night after drawing a foul and converting one of her free throws. Brooks added a free throw of her own before Flatgard knocked down a three-pointer, her 17th of the season. This extends her streak of hitting at least one three in seven consecutive games with 2:48 remaining. Gray closed the quarter by making both of her free throws, and Small added one from the line as AUM fell to Lee, 77-41.
Notables
Samya Brooks led the Warhawks with a team-high 15 points, shooting 5-of-16 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line while adding five rebounds.
Andie Flatgard finished with nine points, knocking down one three-pointer, her 17th of the season, and extending her streak of making at least one three to seven consecutive games.
AUM scored 10 points in the paint and 8 points from the bench.
AUM shot 72.2% (13 of 18) at the free throw line.
The Warhawks won the offensive rebounding battle (12–11) and forced 12 Lee turnovers.
