MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Auburn University at Montgomery Athletics unveiled its Student-Athlete Performance Center (SAPC) on Saturday, October 17, during an open house. Opened in 2025 and officially completed in July 2026, the SAPC is one of several recent facility enhancements that continue to strengthen the experience of Warhawk student-athletes, coaches and fans.
In addition to the SAPC, AUM has also made recent facility improvements to its baseball and softball training spaces, tennis courts, and visual elements throughout the athletics complex.
"These facility enhancements represent our continued commitment to investing in our student-athletes and providing them with the resources they need to succeed," said Director of Athletics
Erik Maas. "We want to create an environment where our student-athletes can develop, compete at the highest level, and take pride in being a Warhawk. These improvements are an important step forward for our department, and we are incredibly grateful for the support of our university, alumni, and donors who help make projects like these possible."
Student-Athlete Performance Center (SAPC)
Opened in spring 2025, the 4,250-square-foot Student-Athlete Performance Center serves as the premier strength and conditioning facility for AUM Athletics, providing a modern training environment designed to support more than 200 Warhawk student-athletes.
The facility features five double weight racks, a free-weight area, all-purpose rubber flooring and a dedicated turf training area for plyometrics, box jumps, kettlebell exercises, speed development and other functional training activities. An office for AUM's full-time strength and conditioning coach and graduate assistant coach supports year-round training, instruction and individualized programming.
Located adjacent to the AUM Athletics Complex, the SAPC provides convenient access for student-athletes. The facility supports AUM Athletics' commitment to improving athletic performance, promoting injury prevention, and enhancing overall student-athlete wellness.
Naming opportunities are available within the Student-Athlete Performance Center, including the facility itself and an individual weight rack. Interested supporters can help provide lasting resources for current and future Warhawks.
Chris Ross "Beat the Beast" Records Board
The Chris Ross "Beat the Beast" Strength and Conditioning Records Board recognizes the achievements and accomplishments of AUM student-athletes, in honor of AUM men's soccer alum Chris Ross.
Ross, a native of Melbourne, Australia, competed for the men's soccer program from 2008–11, serving as a two-time team captain. He graduated with honors in Exercise Science and developed a deep passion for strength and conditioning that carried into his professional career, including roles in Iceland, and Australia. Ross was known for his leadership, work ethic, and commitment to helping others improve. In April 2021, he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, and his courageous battle over the next two years inspired countless people before his passing in August 2023.
AUM Athletics, along with alumni, friends, and family, came together to honor Ross' legacy in the Student-Athlete Performance Center with a space that reflects his passion and purpose, in his honor. This tribute ensures that future Warhawks will be reminded daily of Ross' impact, dedication, and resilience.
The board serves as a visual reminder of the standards established by past Warhawks and the continued pursuit of excellence by AUM's current student-athletes.
Softball Hitting Facility
AUM Softball's covered hitting facility provides student-athletes with a dedicated, year-round training environment. The turf practice space features multiple hitting tunnels and equipment storage, allowing the Warhawks to continue developing their skills regardless of weather conditions.
An adjacent turfed bullpen further enhances the complex's training resources, providing pitchers and catchers with a designated practice area.
Naming opportunities are available for the softball hitting facility and other areas of the Softball Complex, giving supporters an opportunity to contribute to the continued development of Warhawk Softball.
Tennis Court Resurfacing
The AUM Tennis Complex underwent court resurfacing in summer 2026, enhancing the playing surface for both the men's and women's tennis programs.
The complex features 10 lighted hard courts, bleacher seating for approximately 100 spectators, and individual scoring systems on each court, supporting year-round training and competition. The facility is home to two successful programs who have combined for 23 NAIA National Championships.
Naming opportunities are available within the Tennis Complex, including the complex itself and individual courts.
Athletics Complex Updates
AUM Athletics has continued updating branding throughout the Athletics Complex, reinforcing the visual identity of the Warhawks across administrative, competition, and training spaces. The glass entrance doors feature updated photos of its recent Warhawk student-athletes, while floor logos throughout the building have been refreshed with a cleaner, more modern look. Additionally, doors throughout the complex have received new wraps, elevating the Warhawks brand. These enhancements complement existing facility improvements and create a consistent environment that reflects AUM Athletics' identity and tradition.
Additionally, a state-of-the-art, 30-foot LED scorer's table was installed to enhance the game-day experience for men's and women's basketball and volleyball.
Johnson Brothers Hitting Facility
Completed on June 30, 2026, the Johnson Brothers Hitting Facility is the newest addition to the AUM Baseball Stadium and provides the Warhawks with a dedicated, year-round player development space.
Made possible through the generosity of AUM baseball alumni Derek and Keith Johnson, the covered turf facility features two hitting tunnels, equipment storage and space for hitting, pitching and defensive instruction. The facility allows student-athletes to continue individual training and team practices regardless of weather conditions.
Located adjacent to QV Lowe Field, the facility expands the program's training capabilities and provides coaches with additional space to develop players throughout the year.
Through these facility projects and continued improvements, AUM Athletics remains committed to providing Warhawk student-athletes with the resources and training environments needed to develop, compete and succeed.
