MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks men's tennis team (0-2) opened their match against the University of Alabama at Birmingham Blazers (2-3) with a pair of doubles victories to claim the first point of the day before falling 6-1 on Thursday afternoon from the AUM Tennis Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Doubles
Despite the Blazers winning the first doubles battle at the No. 2 position, AUM's tandem of
Giuseppe Bonaiuti and
Jami Savolainen took down UAB's Ondrej Valek and Juan Pablo Valdez 6-4 at the No. 1 slot to even the odds.

With the doubles point on the line,
Mark Nawa and
Lucas Rosvall paired up to defeat the Blazers' Hoan Mouret and Tomas Tischner 6-4 at the No. 3 spot, earning the Warhawks the doubles point.

Singles
UAB started off the singles portion of the match strong, taking straight set wins at the No. 2, 4, 3, and 1 positions.

Rosvall and Nawa took their opponents to a third set at the No. 5 and 6 positions respectively, however, the Blazers were able to take all six singles points and end the match in their favor, 6-1.

UP NEXT
The Warhawks will stay in Montgomery to face the Tuskegee Golden Tigers tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 13, at the AUM Tennis Complex. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m.
