Warhawks Come Up Short Against Falcons on Senior Night

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery women's basketball team (3-21; GGSC: 3-15) closed out Senior Night on Saturday evening at the AUM Athletics Complex, falling to the Montevallo Falcons (5-18; GCS: 4-14).   

First Quarter 
Montevallo scored the first six points of the game before Tamora Brown got the Warhawks on the board with a layup and completed the three-point play at the free-throw line. Montevallo responded with back-to-back three-pointers to extend its lead to 12–3. AUM answered with baskets from senior Samya Brooks and Brown before senior Andie Flatgard knocked down three. Nevaeh Small added a jumper for her first points of the night. The Warhawks closed out the opening quarter trailing 26–16. 

Second Quarter 
In the second quarter, Brooks went to the line and converted both free throws, while Shelby McAlister added a three-pointer for the Warhawks. Andie Flatgard followed with another three, and Brooks scored the next five points for AUM. The Warhawks trailed 44–31 heading into halftime. 

Third Quarter 
In the third quarter, the Warhawks got out to a strong start with points from Brooks, who then scored a layup assisted by senior Paige Taylor. Taylor added two points of her own on a jumper, while Brown contributed a floating jumper. McAlister went to the line, knocking down one free throw, as AUM trailed 40–56.  

Brooks added another layup, and Ameyah Gray scored her first two points of the game. Flatgard hit her third three-pointer of the night, assisted by Jaden Toney, before Brown closed out the scoring for the Warhawks for the quarter. AUM headed into the final quarter down 50–64. 

Fourth Quarter 
Brooks scored the next four points, bringing her total to 24 for the game. Small added a jumper to close the gap to 56–69. Brown knocked down a two-pointer, marking her 13th point of the night, and later converted a free throw. Small grabbed an offensive rebound and followed with another jumper, helping the Warhawks fight until the final buzzer. Auburn University at Montgomery fell to the Montevallo Falcons, 72–63.  

Notables 
Samya Brooks finished with a team-high 24 points, shooting 58.8% from the field (10-17) and 66.7% from the free throw line (6-9).  

Tamora Brown scored 13 points on 6-15 shooting, hitting 4 free throws and contributed 7 rebounds.  

Andie Flatgard hit five three-pointers on 5-15 shooting, totaling 17 points in 40 minutes. 

The Warhawks scored 44 points inside the paint, and the bench produced 17.  

AUM grabbed 16 offensive rebounds, recorded 4 steals and 1 block.
