MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Sophomore Jami Savolainen of the Auburn University at Montgomery men's tennis team has been named Warhawk of the Week, as announced by the AUM Athletics Department, Tuesday afternoon.
Savolainen's Week
Savolainen competed at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles in two matches last week against No. 3 North Georgia and GSC opponent, Christian Brothers.
On Feb. 16 at North Georgia, Savolainen earned a 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles alongside Guillermo Vedia Sanchez. In singles play at the No. 2 position, he claimed the opening set 6-4 before ultimately falling in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 2-6.
He followed with a strong performance against Christian Brothers on Feb. 21. Savolainen secured a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles, winning 6-2, 6-1. He also contributed in doubles at the No. 1 position, pairing with
Giuseppe Bonaiuti for a 6-2 win.
Over the two-match stretch, Savolainen posted a 1-1 record in singles and a perfect 2-0 mark in doubles, helping the Warhawks earn a 4-2 victory over Christian Brothers.
Season Snapshot
Through six matches during the 2026 season, Savolainen has competed exclusively at the No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles positions for the Warhawks. He owns a 3-3 singles record and a 4-2 doubles mark, consistently competing in the top half of the lineup. In singles play, Savolainen has recorded three victories, including a three-set comeback win over No. 11 Columbus State and a dominant 6-1, 6-0 performance against Tuskegee. He has earned two straight-set victories this season and has pushed multiple opponents to three sets at the No. 2 position.
In doubles action, Savolainen has secured four wins at the No. 1 spot with multiple partners, helping AUM claim key doubles points throughout the early portion of the season. His consistent presence at the top of both lineups has provided stability for the Warhawks in both singles and doubles competition.
