DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Despite
Alec Hotaling's fifth-inning homer, the Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks baseball team (6-17) lost a 7-1 road contest to the No. 13 University of North Georgia Nighthawks (20-5) on Wednesday afternoon.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Nighthawks opened the game with a three-run first inning after a three-run home run from Cam Hodge.
Â
Alec Hotaling led off the top of the third frame with AUM's first hit of the day as he singled to left field. Chance Sweeny followed with a well-placed sacrifice bunt; however, the inning would end with Hotaling stranded on second.
Â
Brody Lindsey handled the Nighthawks in order to close out the bottom of the inning while striking out Hodges, who hit a homer earlier in the game, for the third out.
Â
North Georgia added a pair of runs in the fourth inning behind three hits, including an RBI double.
Â
Hotaling drilled a home run over the left field wall in the top of the fifth frame to put the orange and black on the board.
Â
Scoreless sixth and seventh innings brought the game to the eighth frame where UNG's Jake Streeter hit a longball to add two more runs to the home team's tally.
Â
Ultimately, the Nighthawks would secure a 7-1 win over AUM after Wednesday's nine-inning battle.
Â
NOTABLES
Alec Hotaling led the Warhawks' offense with two hits on three at-bats while picking up the team's only run with his fifth-inning bomb, his first of the season.

Â
Camden Suggs rounded out AUM's offensive efforts with a hit while Chance Sweeny finished with a sacrifice fly.
