Giuseppe Bonaiuti and freshman
Guillermo Vedia Sanchez earning recognition after strong performances for the Warhawks.
Bonaiuti was named the GSC Player of the Week, while Vedia Sanchez collected Freshman of the Week honors, marking a sweep of the conference's weekly awards for AUM.
BONAIUTI'S BRILLIANCE
Bonaiuti went 2-0 in doubles and added a singles victory with another match left unfinished while helping lead AUM to a pair of wins over strong competition. At the number one doubles position, he defeated Middle Georgia State's Alexandr Achour and Daniel Garcia Suarez 7-6 before earning another victory against No. 30 Augusta's Alejandro Carbonell and Humberto Pinto. In singles play, his match against Middle Georgia State's Alejandro Vizoso was left unfinished, but he picked up a straight-set victory over No. 30 Augusta's David Perret 6-3, 7-5 at the number one position.
VEDIA SANCHEZ SHINES
Vedia Sanchez posted a 2-0 record in singles and went 1-1 in doubles while helping the Warhawks secure two victories. At the number two doubles position, he teamed up to defeat No. 30 Augusta's David Perret and Alexis Bailhache 6-4 before falling to Middle Georgia State's Alejandro Vizoso and Duarte Mestre 6-3. In singles play, Vedia Sanchez earned a pair of wins at the number three position, rallying for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over No. 30 Augusta's Alexis Bailhache before defeating Middle Georgia State's Duarte Mestre in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
