MACON, Ga. - The Auburn University at Montgomery women's tennis team fell 4-1 to Middle Georgia State on the road in Macon, Georgia on Friday morning.
Doubles
Middle Georgia State claimed the early advantage after earning the doubles point. At No. 2 doubles, Allison Blanco and Mercedes Garcia Cid dropped a 6-3 decision to Aya El Marrasse Zarioui and Yana Prihach, while the No. 3 pairing of Valeria Garcia Chavez and Ana Clara Campigotto fell 6-1 to Berta Castello Petrus and Tamanna Takoria.
AUM earned a doubles victory at the top position, where Nagisa Yonezawa and Melissa Yakup Pour edged Ainhoa Meili Fernandez del Moral and Agustina Olivero, 7-5.
Singles
In singles play, the Knights secured the first two finished matches. At No. 6 singles, Valeria Garcia Chavez fell to Berta Castello Petrus in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4. Shortly after, Ana Clara Campigotto dropped her match at No. 5 singles to Tamanna Takoria, 6-3, 6-2.
The Warhawks picked up their lone point at No. 4 singles, where Allison Blanco outlasted Yana Prihach in a three-set battle, 6-1, 2-6, 7-6.
Middle Georgia State clinched the match at No. 3 singles, as Nagisa Yonezawa fell to Agustina Olivero in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 4-6.
