MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Senior pitcher Sydni Free of the Auburn University at Montgomery softball team has been named Warhawk of the Week, as announced by the AUM Athletics Department, Wednesday morning.  

Free's Week  
Sydni Free delivered a standout week in the circle, making two key relief appearances against No. 15 West Florida and helping the Warhawks secure a series victory.  

Free totaled 6.0 innings across the two outings, allowing just four hits and one run, while posting a 0.00 ERA. She added two strikeouts and held the Argonauts in check during critical moments late in both games. 

In game two of the series, Free tossed a scoreless inning in relief, allowing just one hit to keep AUM within striking distance in a narrow 8-7 loss to UWF.  

She followed that performance with a clutch outing in the series finale, entering in the sixth inning and finishing the final five innings in a 10-inning, 6-5 victory. 

Over those five innings, Free allowed just three hits and one unearned run while working through multiple high-pressure situations, including the international tiebreaker in extra innings. Her effort earned her the win and helped secure the series victory over the nationally ranked Argonauts. 

Season Shapshot 
Sydni Free has been a steady and reliable presence in the circle for the Warhawks throughout the 2026 season, appearing in six games with two starts. Across 24.1 innings pitched, Free holds a 3-0 record with a 1.15 ERA, allowing just four earned runs while striking out 17 batters. She has limited opponents to 17 hits on the year and consistently worked out of tough situations, showcasing strong command and composure in both starting and relief roles. 

Free has delivered multiple standout performances, including a seven-strikeout outing in her season debut against Florida Southern and a dominant five-inning shutout start against Georgia Southwestern. She has proven especially valuable in key moments, contributing in both long relief and starting opportunities, and continues to be a dependable option for AUM as the Warhawks navigate the second half of the season.

Free and the Warhawks will play against the Valdosta State Blazers for a Gulf South Conference matchup with the first pitch set for Friday, April 3 at the Steel's Diamond at Blazer Park.
