MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery baseball team (11-32; GSC: 6-22) dropped game one of it's final home series against the Delta State Statesmen (24-16; GSC: 17-11) on Friday afternoon at the AUM Baseball Complex, falling 11-0, with the matchup concluding after seven innings.
Both teams were quiet through the first two innings before Delta State broke through in the third, using a two-run home run and a bases-loaded walk to take a 3-0 lead. The Statesmen added another run in the fourth to extend the advantage to 4-0.
AUM threatened early, picking up hits from Luke Turner and Liam Gilbert in the first two innings, but couldn't capitalize. Landon Baeder later added a double in the fifth, while Christopher McNeill recorded a single in the sixth, but the Warhawks were unable to push a run across.
Delta State continued to build separation in the sixth with three runs on four hits, pushing the lead to 7-0. The Statesmen then scored four runs in the top of the seventh to extend the lead to 11-0.
The Warhawks were unable to break through as Delta State held AUM scoreless to secure the 11-0 win.
Notables
AUM had four hits on the afternoon, with Christopher McNeill, Luke Turner, Liam Gilbert, and Landon Baeder each recording one.
Baeder accounted for the Warhawks' lone extra-base hit with a double to left center in the fifth inning.
McNeill and Cannon Miller each swiped a base, giving AUM two stolen bases in the contest.

The Warhawks will be back in action tomorrow for Games 2 and 3 of the series against the Delta State Statesmen. The first game is set for 1 pm, and prior to the first pitch, the seniors will be honored.
