MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery tennis programs remain firmly on the national radar, with both the men's and women's teams consistently competing among the top programs in NCAA Division II. Facing some of the strongest competition in the country on the road, the Warhawks continue to prove they belong on the national stage.
Men Ranked Nationally at No. 39
On the men's side, the Warhawks checked in at No. 39 nationally after taking down the Montevallo Falcon's with a 7-0 sweep last week.
Guillermo Vedia Sanchez and
Raphael Pertusier opened doubles play with a 6-2 victory over Montevallo's Samuel Maia and Luiz Gobbi at the No. 2 position.
Giuseppe Bonaiuti and
Jami Savolainen followed with a 6-2 win over the Falcon's at the top doubles spot to claim the first point of the match for the Warhawks.
In singles play, Vedia Sanchez was the first off the singles courts with his 6-2, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 position over UM's Leonidas Lazarides. McDonagh earned the next victory over Montevallo's Edgar Dufresne at the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 6-0. With AUM leading 3-0, No. 59 Savolainen picked up a match-clinching 6-2, 6-4 win over the Falcons' Guilherme Gracioli at the No. 2 slot. At the top singles position, No. 75 Bonaiuti downed Montevallo's Christian Bacher 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.
Augustin Wallaert closed out his home season with a 6-2, 3-6, 10-0 win over the Falcon's Luiz Gobbi at the No. 5 position.
Lucas Rosvall secured the sweep for the Warhawks with his 6-4, 6-0 win over Montevallo's Simon Luigs at the No. 6 position.
Singles Spotlight: No. 59 Jami Savolainen
Savolainen made a large impact in the sweep of the Falcon's, earning both singles and doubles victories. After his doubles win at the top spot, Savolainen took down Montevallo's Guilherme Gracioli 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 2 singles position. His efforts helped the Warhawks earn the sweep and secure its position as the fourth seed in the 2026 GSC Championship.
Singles Spotlight: No. 75 Giuseppe Bonaiuti
Bonaiuti helped AUM to a 7-0 sweep over Montevallo last week, leading the way with wins in both doubles and singles. The senior followed up his doubles victory with a dominant 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 win over Montevallo's Christian Bacher at the top singles position. Behind Bonaiuti's hard work, the Warhawks swept UM and secured its position as the fourth seed in the 2026 GSC Championship.
Singles Spotlight with No. 13 Melissa Yakup Pour
No. 13
Melissa Yakup Pour competed at the top singles position for the Warhawks, helping lead AUM to a 6-1 victory over Montevallo in the final match of the regular season. Yakup Pour battled Klara Podskubkova in a three-set match, dropping the opening set before responding with a 7-5 win in the second and closing it out 6-3 in the third to secure the point.
Yakup Pour continues to be a steady force at the No. 1 position as the Warhawks head into postseason play.
No. 22 Melissa Yakup Pour and Nagisa Yonezawa Shine in Doubles Play

Melissa Yakup Pour and
Nagisa Yonezawa continued their strong play at the No. 1 doubles position, helping secure the doubles point for the Warhawks in their 6-1 win over Montevallo to close out the season. The duo earned a 6-4 victory over Klara Podskubkova and Claire Jaramba, setting the tone early in the match.
