No. 7 Softball Falls Short at No. 20 Montevallo

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – After clinching the series with a pair of wins yesterday, the No. 7 Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks softball team (39-8, GSC: 22-8) dropped a 2-0 decision to the No. 20 Montevallo Falcons (39-11, GSC: 20-10) on Saturday afternoon at Orr Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons wasted no time getting on the board, scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning behind Taylor Rogers' solo homer.

Reese Cauley was able to retire the Falcons in order in the second, third, and fourth innings, keeping it a one-score game through five frames.

An unearned run for Montevallo in the sixth inning extended its lead to 2-0 heading into the final inning of play.

Olivia Watkins picked up a single and Karris Rhine drew a walk, however, Montevallo would go on to secure a 2-0 victory, preventing the sweep.

NOTABLES
  • Reese Cauley had a strong outing, tossing a complete 6.0 inning game while holding opponents to one earned run on four hits.
  • Today's game marks the first time the Warhawks have lost the third game of a series since falling to Lee on February 28.

UP NEXT
The Warhawks will close out its 2026 regular season with a road series against Trevecca Nazarene on May 1. Friday's doubleheader is set for a 2 p.m. first pitch from Nashville, Tenn.
