MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery tennis programs continue to earn national recognition, with both the men's and women's teams competing at the highest level in Division II. The Warhawks battled elite opponents on the road, proving they can hold their own against some of the best programs in the country. Â
Men Ranked Nationally at No. 29Â
On the men's side, the Warhawks checked in at No. 29 nationally after facing top-ranked West Florida last week. The Argos claimed the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. The top doubles match went unfinished, with Giuseppe Bonaiuti and Jami Savolainen holding a 4-3 lead over UWF's Sebastian Rondon and Diego Duran.Â
West Florida extended its lead to 6-0 after securing the first five singles matches. Harry McDonagh provided the lone point for the Warhawks, battling back for a 0-6, 7-6, 7-6 (10-8) victory over Vicente Couto. The Argos secured the 6-1 win, extending their winning streak to 13 matches while remaining undefeated in conference play at 6-0.Â

Singles Spotlight: No. 59 Giuseppe BonaiutiÂ
Bonaiuti competed at the top singles position against No. 3 Sebastian Rondon of the No. 1 West Florida Argos, falling 6-3, 6-1 in a hard-fought match. Â

Singles Spotlight: No. 62 Jami SavolainenÂ
Savolainen faced No. 1 UWF's No. 2 Diego Duran at the No. 2 singles position, dropping a 6-2, 6-1 decision in a matchup between nationally ranked opponents.Â

Singles Spotlight with No. 10 Melissa Yakup PourÂ
This week, Yakup Pour clocks in at tenth in the nation for the second week in a row. Yakup Pour battled at the No. 1 position against No. 7 Carlota Verdu of No. 2 West Florida. The nationally ranked Warhawk delivered a competitive performance, pushing the Argos' top player in a hard-fought 6-4, 7-5 match. Yakup Pour showcased her skill and poise against one of the country's top singles competitor. The senior has been ranked in the top-10 for the third consecutive week. Â

No. 25 Melissa Yakup Pour and Nagisa Yonezawa Shine in Doubles Play Â
Melissa Yakup Pour and Nagisa Yonezawa are ranked No. 25 this week. The duo battled at the No. 1 doubles position against the nation's No. 3 duo, Carlota Verdu and Sandra Recuenco of West Florida. The Warhawks pushed the top-ranked pair to the limit, holding a 5-4 advantage before the match was unfinished. Their effort highlighted AUM's competitiveness against one of the best doubles teams in Division II.Â

The Warhawks will be back in action to battle against Lee University on Friday, April 10 in Cleveland, Tennessee for a GSC matchup on the road. The match is set to begin at 10 am. Â
