GREENWOOD, In. – College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its Academic All-District honorees for women's golf on Tuesday afternoon, with a pair of Auburn University at Montgomery student-athletes earning recognition for their performances on the course and in the classroom.
Â
The honor recognizes student-athletes who have distinguished themselves both academically and athletically. Nelson and Medford played key roles in helping lead the Warhawks through the program's inaugural season.
Â
Ashley Nelson | Junior | 4.00 GPA | Kinesiology Major
Nelson, a junior kinesiology major from Lake City, Florida, maintained a perfect 4.00 GPA while emerging as one of AUM's top performers on the course. She recorded four top-10 finishes during the season, including three top-five performances. Nelson's best result came at the SSU Tiger Invitational, where she finished second individually.
Aubrie Medford | Junior | 4.00 GPA | Kinesiology Major
Medford, a junior kinesiology major from Chester, Illinois, also earned the distinction with a perfect 4.00 GPA. She competed in all nine tournaments during AUM's inaugural campaign and turned in her top finish of the season at the SSU Tiger Invitational, placing 15th overall.
To be eligible for CSC All-District, student-athletes must be in the lineup for 75 percent of an institution's team scoring events or in the lineup at the conference championship tournament.
Â
Nelson and Medford's selections highlight the success of AUM women's golf both in competition and in the classroom during the program's first season.
