BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference announced its first weekly men's soccer awards of the 2026 season Tuesday, with Auburn University at Montgomery earning three honors following the opening week of competition. Jaden McKree was named GSC Player of the Week, Jakob Buhrkuhl earned GSC Goalkeeper of the Week honors, and Brennan Greer was selected as GSC Freshman of the Week.
 
The Warhawks opened the week with a 2-0 victory over Saint Leo before returning home two days later to defeat Tampa 2-1. The pair of wins against two of the top teams in the South Region moved AUM to 2-0-0 on the season and gave the Warhawks three goals scored while allowing just one through the opening two matches.
 
GSC Player of the Week: Jaden McKree
McKree led the Warhawks' offensive attack throughout the week, scoring both goals in AUM's 2-0 victory over Saint Leo. The senior forward found the back of the net twice to help the Warhawks open the season with a shutout victory. McKree finished the week with two goals and four points, including the game-winning goal against Saint Leo. He recorded three shots during the match, putting all three on target while converting two of his attempts.




GSC Goalkeeper of the Week: Jakob Buhrkuhl
Buhrkuhl anchored an AUM defense that surrendered just one goal across the two victories. The junior goalkeeper started both matches and played all 90 minutes in each contest, recording seven saves while posting a .875 save percentage. Buhrkuhl also recorded a clean sheet against Saint Leo, helping the Warhawks secure their first shutout of the season.





GSC Freshman of the Week: Brennan Greer
Greer made an immediate impact in his first week as a Warhawk. The freshman appeared in both matches and recorded an assist in the victory over Saint Leo, setting up McKree's opening goal in the 38th minute.




UP NEXT
The Warhawks will return to action Wednesday, September 2 when they travel to Florence, South Carolina for a non-conference battle with Francis Marion. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
