Auburn University at Montgomery Athletics

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks volleyball team (2-9, GSC: 0-1) opened Gulf South Conference play Friday evening, falling to the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans (3-7, GSC: 1-0) 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-16) from the AUM Athletics Complex.
 
SET ONE
Trevecca Nazarene jumped out to an early 7-0 lead before AUM answered with a 2-0 run, highlighted by a kill from Jamya Powell. The Trojans maintained their advantage throughout the set, but the Warhawks used a late 4-0 run, led by a trio of kills from Gabriella Wokatsch, to pull within 19-9 before Trevecca Nazarene closed out the opening frame 25-13.
 
SET TWO
The second set featured a much tighter battle, with the teams trading points throughout the early stages. AUM held an 8-6 advantage before Trevecca Nazarene pulled even at 8-8. The Warhawks continued to battle and remained within striking distance at 15-15, but the Trojans used a 6-1 run to take a 21-16 lead. The Trojans ultimately closed the set 25-21.
 
SET THREE
AUM took an early 3-2 lead in the third set following a kill from Jaslyn Montgomery, but Trevecca Nazarene answered to take an 14-8 advantage. AUM continued to fight, cutting the deficit to 18-14 after kills from Mya Lacey and Chelsea Daffin, but the Trojans scored seven of the final nine points to take the set 25-16.
 
NOTABLES

• Addison Vinson recorded a double-double with 13 assists and 12 digs.
• Mya Lacey led the Warhawks with seven kills.
