Auburn University at Montgomery Athletics

CLINTON, Miss. – The Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks volleyball team (2-13, GSC: 0-5) fell 3-0 (25-9, 25-9, 25-20) to the Mississippi Christian University Choctaws (5-10, GSC: 2-2) Saturday afternoon in Gulf South Conference action at A.E. Wood Coliseum.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1
Mississippi Christian opened the match with a 25-9 victory. AUM briefly tied the set at 5-5 before the Choctaws pulled away with a 9-1 run to take a 14-6 lead. The Warhawks were unable to close the gap as Mississippi Christian finished the set on an 11-2 run.
 
SET 2
The Choctaws again controlled the second set, building a 13-3 advantage before AUM took the next two points, however, Mississippi Christian answered with another stretch of points and eventually took the set 25-9 to move within one set of the sweep.
 
SET 3
AUM showed more fight in the third set, despite trailing 6-1 early. The Warhawks used a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to 22-16, however, the Choctaws ended the match to complete the 3-0 sweep.
 
UP NEXT
The Warhawks will stay on the road for a match against the Union Bulldogs in Jackson, Tennessee, on Friday, October 2 at 6 p.m.
