On July 29, 2021, head tennis coach Yair Banuelos, along with Director of Athletics Jessie Rosa announced the hiring of Diana Monsalve as the next tennis graduate assistant.
"I am happy to have Diana joining our coaching staff," said Banuelos. "Diana is very hardworking and comes from a very good program where she excelled on and off the court. She comes very well recommended from her coaches. I believe she'll have a big impact on our program and will make everyone better."
Monsalve, a former NCAA Division I student-athlete at Jacksonville State and South Alabama. While at Jacksonville State, she posted a 9-2 record during the 2018-2019 season.
"I am very grateful for the opportunity to join the AUM tennis team as a graduate assistant coach," said Monsalve. "Tennis has always been my greatest passion and what I have been doing all my life, and now that I will be starting this new path, it excites me a lot because I know that I will work hard and give all my best for the success of the team as a coach just like I did as a player."
Once at South Alabama, she held a 13-2 singles record with the Jaguars and was an ITA All-Academic honoree twice. She won the Sun Belt Conference championship in 2019 and was named to the commissioner's list in the Sun Belt in 2019 and 2020.
