MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery volleyball team hosted the University of North Alabama on Saturday afternoon, falling to the reigning Gulf South Conference Tournament champions 3-0 (25-12, 25-6, 25-15).
NOTES
• AUM falls to 7-11 on the season with a 1-7 mark in Gulf South Conference action.
• UNA improves to 16-3, 6-1 in league play.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Junior setter
Carly Smart finished the match with 11 assists, four digs and a pair of kills.
• Junior middle blocker
Brianna Garvin paced the offense with five kills while adding two blocks (one solo, one assisted).
• Sophomore defensive specialist
Haley Toler anchored the defense with eight digs, followed by freshman outside hitter
Skylar Coppinger with six.
• Sophomore defensive specialist
Kiana Yangson served the Warhawks lone assist and contributed five digs.
• For the Lions, Lexie Bradley boasted 15 kills on a .312 clip while Jayden Davila McClary posted 26 assists, Ashtyn Kapovich added 12 digs and Emma Ellis served a pair of aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• AUM went toe-to-toe with the Lions for the opening 12 points, seeing a 6-6 score before an 8-0 run by the visitors gave them a 14-6 advantage. The Warhawks responded with back-to-back tallies, but a 7-2 stretch for UNA gave them a double-digit lead at 21-10.
• UNA hit a match-best .536 without committing any errors in the second set to secure a 2-0 overall lead. The Lions began the stanza with nine-straight points and led the entire frame.
• The Lions scored five of the opening six points in the finale to establish an early 5-1 lead. AUM kept the deficit within reach before a 6-2 stretch extended UNA's lead to seven at 15-8. The Warhawks tried to mount a comeback with back-to-back tallies, but four-straight UNA points made it 19-10.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM finished the match with 16 kills on a .000 hitting percentage versus 43 on a .352 clip for North Alabama.
• UNA held a 50-31 advantage in digs.
• The two sides combined for eight total blocks, with UNA posting five and AUM having three.
• UNA served six aces while AUM posted one.

AUM travels to Tuskegee, Ala. On Tuesday, Oct. 10 for a midweek match against the Golden Tigers with a 6 p.m. start time.
