MACON, Ga. ----- The No. 30 Auburn Montgomery women's tennis team picked up an 8-1 victory over Middle Georgia State University Friday.
The Warhawks improved to 16-3 on the season and won their seventh straight decision. The Lady Knights fell to 12-6 overall.
AUM earned two wins in doubles play, with the tandem of
Kelly Southwood and
Celine Lenertz earning an 8-0 win at the No. 2 spot and the team of
Alejandra Gil and
Iris Verweij capturing an 8-3 victory at the No. 3 position.
In singles, the Warhawks swept all six matches, including a three-set win by
Paula Diaz at the top spot. Southwood, Verweij, Lenertz, Gil and
Anna Rudolfova each won in straight sets, dropping only seven combined games.
The Warhawks will return to action on Friday, April 14, when they travel to No. 4 Armstrong State for a 12 p.m. contest.
