FLORENCE, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery volleyball took on the University of North Alabama on Friday afternoon in the UNA Volleyball Classic, falling to the host Lions 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-9).

Brianna Garvin led the Warhawks on offense with six kills while matching redshirt junior right-side hitter

Haley Toler anchored the defense with nine digs, followed by fellow sophomore defensive specialist

• Jessica Austin led UNA with 12 kills on a .595 hitting percentage while Ashtyn Kapovich, sitting 12th in Division II for total digs, posted a match-high 12. Jayden Davila-McClary, who entered the match with the fifth-most assists and the ninth-highest assist per set average in the country, was held to a season-low 24.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• UNA set the tone of the match early, scoring seven of the opening nine points to force an AUM timeout with a 7-2 separation. The Warhawks managed to cut into the deficit with a 3-1 rally following the timeout to make it a three-point contest before six-straight tallies by the hosts gave them a 14-6 advantage.
• AUM opened up the second set strong, keeping up with the Lions for the opening 22 points with just a two-point differential at 12-10. North Alabama ended the set on a 13-0 run. Â
• UNA's spree continued into the third stanza, scoring the first six points of the set before AUM ended the rally. The Warhawks fought back and cut the separation to three behind a 7-4 run to make it 10-7 before seven-straight points by the hosts extended their lead to double-digits at 17-7.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• UNA, who ranks 16th in the nation in kills per set, boasted 41 tallies on a .381 hitting percentage while the Warhawks were held to 12 on a -.095 clip.
• The Lions held a 37-27 advantage in digs.
• AUM and UNA combined for 10 total blocks, with the host holding a 6-4 advantage.
• North Alabama served 12 aces versus zero for AUM.
